Thomas's Nightmare

Thomas's Nightmare

The Popples wanted to have a train of their own to take stuff back and forth between them, the hounds, and their popple friends. They also wanted one just because it would be fun riding in a car hooked up to it. So they decided that Thomas should come to live with them and be their train. Thomas agreed to leave the island of Sodor and check out living at the Popples base.

Once there it didn't take long for Thomas to realize he may have made a terrible mistake. He was listening to stories the Popples and hounds were making up. It seemed that in every story he was the villain! This hurt Thomas's feelings very much and made him quite sad:( Poor Thomas!! He missed his home and his friends so much!! Finally, he just couldn't take it anymore and broke down into tears.

Puffball Popple noticed Thomas sobbing and bounced over to him. "What's wrong, Thomas?" she asked.

"Sniff, sniff...am I really so terrible, he asked? Why would you invite me to come and live with you if I am such an awful train?"

"You're not awful, Thomas!" said Puffball. "You're really hard working, brave, and even though you're a bit cheeky you're a very nice train." Puffball looked away awkwardly and blushing she added, "You're very handsome, too."

"Then why am I always the bad guy in your stories," asked Thomas?

"I don't know, Thomas. We don't mean anything by it," explained Puffball.

"We were just playing around," added PC.

"We didn't realize that it would hurt your feelings," said Party. "We're sorry, Thomas. That wasn't very nice of us at all!"

"Yes," chimed in the rest of the Popples. "We're so sorry, Thomas."

"Can you forgive us," pleaded Pretty Bit?

"Yes, I forgive you." Then, with a little twinkle in his eye Thomas asked, "Do you think I could be the hero in the next story?"

"Of course you can," squeaked Potato Chip. "Once upon a time..." she began.

Not only did Potato Chip make Thomas the hero in her story but in every other story that night. This made Thomas feel so much better...made him feel accepted. The group then made a rule that they would all take turns being the villain...and so ended Thomas's nightmare. :)
